Full Project Breakdown
Tritec worked with BT TEC & Fleet from September to November 2019 to refurbish the commercial roofing, gutters, and rooflights at Nursling Industrial Estate. The project addressed corrosion, UV damage, and general wear from years of limited maintenance, restoring the building’s structural integrity and performance.
Roof Refurbishment
he existing composite roof was heavily degraded, with corrosion, flaking coatings, cut-edge damage, and compromised fixings.
Preparation included high-pressure jet washing to remove debris, dirt, and loose coatings, followed by mechanical treatment of corroded areas. Holes were filled, fixings tightened, and all exposed metal primed and sealed.
Lap joints and cut edges were treated with HD Sharman Seamsil® to prevent water ingress, followed by two coats of HD Sharman Delcote applied by roller. The system encapsulated the composite sheets, extending roof life by 20 years with a manufacturer-backed guarantee.
Gutter Refurbishment
The building’s gutters were obstructed by silt, debris, and vegetation, compromising water flow and causing potential corrosion.
All gutters were cleared, washed, and prepared for the installation of HD Sharman Plygene® bespoke liners, including joints, stop ends, and outlets. The lining system now offers a 25-year lifespan, giving the client peace of mind and improved water management.
Rooflight Replacement & Over-Sheeting
UV degradation and general wear had rendered many GRP rooflights ineffective. Redundant rooflights over offices were over-sheeted with matching steel sheets, while the remaining rooflights were carefully removed and replaced with new GRP units fixed with butyl sealants and new fixings. Poppy red caps were added to highlight fragile areas.
The newly installed rooflights restore natural daylight and have an expected lifespan of 25 years, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and improving energy efficiency.
