Full Project Breakdown
Tritec worked with JD Sports at Colney Fields Retail Park, St Albans, from March to May 2020 to refurbish the unit’s metal pitched roof. The project addressed corrosion, UV damage, and aging coatings to extend the life of the roof and associated flashings.
Roof Refurbishment
The existing metal roof had areas of cut-edge corrosion, weathered factory coatings, and evidence of historical patch repairs. Roof preparation included high-pressure jet washing to remove dirt, loose coatings, and contaminants. Loose fixings were tightened, missing fixings replaced, and all fixings primed and sealed. Corroded cut edges on roof sheets and flashings were treated and primed prior to coating.
Once prepared, Liquasil MetalSeal 20 was applied via airless spray to all roof sheets, flashings, and cappings. The system fully encapsulates vulnerable areas, providing long-term protection and extending the roof’s lifespan. A Liquasil representative inspected the works, confirming compliance with manufacturer specifications and issuing a 20-year guarantee.
